Aunt Kate's Chair

Английский · уровень A2 · 190 слов

Aunt Kate called at six in the morning, then at seven, then at ten past seven. She did not want to sit near the music, because it is bad for her head. She did not want to sit near the door, because of the cold air. She did not want to sit near her brother George, and she did not say why. Sam took a big piece of paper and drew all the tables of the wedding. He worked on it for two hours, like a general before a battle. Aunt Kate got table two: far from the music, far from the door and far from George. Then Sam saw one free chair at table four and, because he was very tired, he wrote his own name on it. He sent the photo of the paper to Rita and went to bed. In the morning she wrote: "The tables are perfect." Then: "Who is Sam Price at table four?" Sam began to write the truth. But a new message came first: "Aunt Kate says you are her old friend from the city." "She is so happy that you are coming."
