The Wrong Sam

On Tuesday morning Sam got a message from a number he did not know. "Sam, the wedding is in three weeks and the cake is still not ordered!" The message was signed "Rita". Sam wrote back: "Sorry, you have the wrong number." The answer came in five seconds: "Very funny, Sam." Then another message came: "The cake shop closes at six!" It was ten minutes to six. Sam did not know Rita, but he did not want a wedding with no cake. He called the shop and asked for a big white cake. "What name do we write on it?" the woman asked. Sam did not know the names of the two young people. "Write Sam," he said. At nine in the evening a photo came to his phone. It was a very big white cake with one golden word on it: SAM. "Nina says it is modern art," Rita wrote. "Now the flowers."
